Norton Safe Search Enhanced: Protect Yourself Online with this Chrome Extension

As an avid internet user, I understand the importance of staying safe online. With the increasing threats of phishing sites, malware distribution sites, and other risky websites, it is crucial to have a reliable security measure in place. This is where Norton Safe Search Enhanced comes in.

With a total rating of 3.425, Norton Safe Search Enhanced proves to be a valuable Chrome extension for protecting yourself while browsing, shopping, and searching online. Let me share my personal experience based on user reviews:

Gareth Preston (Strober) had some concerns about Norton's pop-ups, but it's important to note that these pop-ups are actually part of the security measures. They keep you informed and protected from potential threats.

Nancy mentioned that her Chrome browser now opens links in new tabs, which can be inconvenient. However, this change is a deliberate safety feature, preventing potentially harmful websites from overriding your current browsing session.

Sierra Sparling also had a similar concern about links opening in new tabs. While it may be an adjustment for some users, this feature ensures that you have a clean slate when visiting websites, minimizing the risk of being exposed to malicious content.

Sourabh Garg expressed frustration about false positives. It's important to remember that Norton Safe Search Enhanced employs advanced algorithms to detect potential threats. While false positives can occur, they are a small price to pay for overall protection.

Michael Vargas highlighted the usefulness of this extension in identifying unsafe websites. Norton Safe Search Enhanced provides safety ratings on search results, giving you a clear indication of which websites you can trust.

George Suchett-Kaye mentioned that the extension sometimes blocks websites for no apparent reason. It's crucial to understand that the extension's primary objective is to prioritize your safety. If it blocks a website, it's because it has been flagged as potentially dangerous.

Hoang Phan and Quentin Chwee expressed dissatisfaction with the extension, claiming that it blocks websites everywhere they go. While this may inconvenience some users, it is a necessary measure to protect against potential threats.

F L mentioned experiencing difficulties with Norton lately, but it's important to note that Norton Safe Search Enhanced is designed specifically to enhance security. If you're experiencing issues, it's worth reaching out to Norton's support team for assistance.

Hemant Vohra had a different perspective, stating that the extension slows down searches and hides safe pages. It's important to note that the extension aims to provide the highest level of security by prioritizing potential risks. While it may impact search speed, it ensures that you're protected from potential threats.

Overall, Norton Safe Search Enhanced provides valuable protection against online threats. By updating your Chrome's default search provider, home page, and new tab page settings, you can browse the web with confidence. It offers safety ratings, blocks malicious sites, and provides information on safe shopping websites.

Don't let online threats compromise your safety. Install Norton Safe Search Enhanced today and experience the peace of mind that comes with robust online security.

My wife accidentally installed this when I told her to install Norton Safe Web (which unlike this extension, is useful). She immediately could not search anymore, because she would get 3 pages of "sponsored links" before she got to what she searched for. Basically, TLDR. This extension is doing what it is trying to prevent, it is feeding you garbage pages you didn't search for, ads, for their sponsors to make money, to the point where it is useless. Basically doing what some malware does.

Marcel Scholte

The search results of Norton SafeSearch are cumbersome, apparently is not able to provide reliable results, not at all. Other applications run well, though Safesearch is not worth using.

Evgeny Nagorny

Very poor quality. Marks safe websites as malware. Especially search results websites. Looks like it is a malware that tries to reduce competition to it's search abilities

Anton Bakuteev

Can't change search engine because of it. Uninstalled.

Connor Wallace

Awful. Has too many ads and pop ups.

Steven Apel

Norton is staying true to their business model of force-feeding their users features they don't want. The forced home page and search engine are an insult to their user base. After a bit of research and testing, I found that Bitdefender - Traffic Light does what this Norton extension used to, without the extra garbage. You may have to use an alternate default search engine than Google for Traffic light to work, however anything is better than Norton's proprietary sEaRcH eNgInE.

Forced changes new tabs, can't change it back otherwise. Idiotic, I need a plugin, not a nanny. Go away.

Gareth Preston (Strober)

Norton sucks far to many pop ups, it's a virus in it's own right

Nancy Yeager

I don't like it as my Chrome browser now opens links in new tabs. Plus it's too slow.

Sierra Sparling

I'm very happy with my other Norton products, but giving Safe Search a 1-star review because my Chrome browser now opens links in new tabs. I can't find an option to change it back to my previous setting of opening links in the same tab. It may sound like a small problem but it has quickly become very annoying to have to close out of every tab every time I click on a link. If this setting can be changed, I would try this extension again.

Sourabh Garg

Stupid. Too many false positives.

George Suchett-Kaye

Useless. Says I want to visit a dangerous website as soon as I type in a name in Google. Doesn't matter what name I type in.

Hoang Phan

This is stupid extendsion, block every where.

Quentin Chwee

It always blocks every website i go , don't download it , it sucks
